Charlie Le Mindu, the 23 year old designer known most recently for adding to Lady Gaga’s costume extremity, creates towering wigs as well as clothes and accessories out of human hair. A native of Bordeaux France, Le Mindu’s background is as surreal as his avant-garde pieces. He started cutting hair at the age of 13 in his grandmother’s hair salon and later moved to Berlin at the age of 17 where he worked in punk hair salon called Le Petit Salon. He later set up shop at club Rio unconventionally cutting hair of local club goers from 11 pm to 6 am.
Le Mindu is known for being the only designer at a major Fashion Week event with a show focused entirely on wigs. What happens to the wigs after the show? They are kept in a showroom so that stylists can borrow them. You can see 3 of Le Mindu’s wigs in Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance Video”.
