Recently we finished another custom art portfolio case for a designer who wanted to brand her work and portfolio with her signature look.  We worked with white acrylic and mirrored plexiglass to create this look.   This portfolio case was a lot of fun to create since we got to try out some new techniques that worked to our advantage.

The portfolio case is hinged with screwposts + extenders so that a larger amount of work can be put in at any one time. To see other portfolio’s we’ve done you can look here, here, here, and  here!  If you’d like your very own spiffy case, feel free to contact me

Recently, we had the pleasure of working with a very talented Fashion Designer in creating a unique custom portfolio case for her latest collection.
Katherine Koniecki’s Ultra Violet line is inspired by “fractured ideals” and this is shown in her mix of hard vs soft fabrics such as distressed leather and silk juxtapositioned
together within an outfit.

Katherine wanted a portfolio case that would illustrate this tale before the viewer even saw her collection.  We decided to create a black acrylic inset portfolio case with a “shattered mirror” element on the right hand corner.  Below you’ll find photos of the portfolio case we created .  We’ll put up a link to Katherine’s website once we’ve finished it so you can see where the inspiration came from.  Enjoy!

You can view other custom portfolio cases we’ve created here here, and here!

There’s nothing better than creating an arsenal of great resources that can serve inspiration on tap, help you work more efficiently, and propel your creativity to the next level.

There are hundreds of thousands of helpful resources for the curious designer out there and I’ve compiled my own list of tools that I have found very helpful over the years.  I’ve geared this list towards Fashion Designers and Fashion Design students, but it transcends into other realms of design as well. Whether you’re looking to create a moodboard for your next collection, pick out the perfect color scheme, or choose the most suitable font for your print catalog, there’s something here for you.  If you have a resource that you can’t live without, please share so that we can add to the list.  Enjoy!

Recently we created a custom portfolio case for a very talented fashion design student who will be graduating in September. The theme of her collection is “The Future”, intergalactic outer space meets glam. She wanted her portfolio case to reflect this so we created a portfolio case with a cut out cover as well as a section that would intelligently hold her fabric swatches in place. The swatches are tucked behind cutout numbers that can be removed individually from the back. Her custom portfolio case is hinged which allows her to easily add or remove paged from her collection. Take a look at some photos of the finished portfolio case below.

I had to create a presentation for a course in my Fashion Design program and I wanted to deliver the full “package”.  The end result was showcasing my work in a custom portfolio that I created with the help an amazing designer Amir Aziz.  It was at that moment that I fully realized the power of presentations   It’s going to take a bit more effort and creativity to leave a lasting impression these days, especially with the plethora of talent out there, the speed of ingenuity, and the tools available.  The good news is that it’s definitely possible and you can easily have a custom portfolio case that will present and compliment your work beautifully.  We have designed several custom portfolio cases for designers, photographers, and artists alike and so I’ve boiled it down to these 4 essential questions that you should answer.  Read the rest of this entry »

Sometimes the most concise sayings have the greatest impact.  Often vague and open to interpretation, they speak to everyone in a different way and allow your mind to expand or contract based on your previous experiences.

And in saying that, I wanted to share a few that I’ve stumbled upon at Quoteskine, the brainchild Lee Crutchley, a graphic designer from England .  Enjoy :-)

How do you escape the Ikea furniture funk?

Enter Teo Jasmin in France.  They’ve set out to create fun, fashionable and extraordinary upholstery for your home that will have your guests looking twice before sitting down .  Featuring graphic prints and photos, you can take personalizing your living room to the next level.  I had a chance to chat with Laurent Auxietre, creative director of Teo Jasmin about his business, his roots, and his plans for the future.  Please see the full interview below.

Check out Teo Jasmin’s wide range of items including cushions, canvas, and decorative stickers.  Visit their website for more information.

How did this idea come to life?  What was the inspiration?

Well, I was originally a freelance graphic designer, and I always wanted to create something new for home decoration, something that had never been seen before. It got started in 2001 when I created the company Teo Jasmin with very little means, but the concept of canvas prints for wall decoration was a big success right from the start. Then additional products came up to complete the range of products such as cushions and furniture. This fall, the range is again extended with notebooks and trendy bags, still using the same concept of digital printing.

What was the hardest part of starting this business?

Keeping faith in project, it’s never easy when you start on your own. Now Teo Jasmin is a team of 10 people.  We have graphic designers in our trend office and people in the warehouse for manufacture.

Do you sell to North America?

Not yet, but it is in our plans. Soon or later we’ll be selling there.

What other additions might you make to your product line?

We have trendy bags and notebooks coming out this fall. Check them out soon on our website; they’re going to be striking!

Where would you like to see Teo Jasmin in the future?

Everywhere! It’s a long way to go still, but again it’s a matter of keeping faith in what we do.
